SILVERION 2400™ is a patented and EPA registered, Category IV, broad-spectrum aqueous disinfectant. Based upon proprietary ionization stabilization technology, SILVERION 2400™ does not include the use of traditional disinfectants such as quaternary ammonium, phenols, glutaraldehyde, chlorine or bromine compounds. SILVERION 2400™ enhances the disinfection properties of halogens (chlorine) at reduced levels and is a cost effective, stand-alone alternative to halogens in many markets where conventional disinfection methodologies are employed.
Ag+, silver ions, have long been known for their ability to destroy bacteria, fungi and virus*. Before the discovery of SILVERION 2400™ , silver ions within an aqueous solution existed in an extremely unstable ionic state. As a result, silver ions in aqueous solutions have experienced a relatively short shelf life and exhibited rapid reduction of ionic concentration rendering the solutions ineffective as a disinfectant.
SILVERION 2400™ has been proven stable for years under actual warehouse conditions at high concentrations.
Enhanced Stability and Performance of Ionic Silver
The ionic properties of SILVERION 2400™ allow us to formulate a product with higher stability and efficacy as compared to colloidal silver products on the market today. Traditional colloidal silver products are generated in pure water using straight DC voltage with very little control over speed of the ionization process. This method creates larger silver particles, which precipitate more readily and limits the ability to concentrate silver in solution.
It is believed that the ionic size and charge associated with the silver ions in SILVERION 2400™, coupled with the stabilizing effect of an organic acid allow the ionic silver to remain in solution without precipitating. The increased biological availability of these stabilized silver ions in solution contributes to the outstanding effectiveness of SILVERION 2400™ against a wide range of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, fungi and viruses.
The residual activity of SILVERION 2400™ was tested at 0, 1, 6, and 24 hours after one application to a non-porous hard surface against standard indicator organisms (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442 and Salmonella cholerasuis ATCC 10708). Qualitative residual results at 24 hours after initial application show a 99.9999% reduction on all three microorganisms tested. This virtually puts SILVERION 2400™ in a class by itself as compared to traditional disinfectants that are currently available.
Currently, SILVERION 2400™ and Axen have been registered with the U.S. EPA as hard surface disinfectants, however the versatility and ability to easily formulate with other products make SILVERION 2400™ ideal in many other areas. Some of these areas may require further registrations or approvals.

The current EPA approval of SILVERION 2400™ as a hard surface disinfectant is based on prior testing using 12-ppm formula strength. At the 12-ppm formula strength,SILVERION 2400™ is proven 99.9999% effective against standard indicator organisms in 10 minutes. Recently, new testing commissioned in the United States using an increased formula strength to meet rigorous standards of potential product partners, and to achieve the shortest possible kill times on a greater scope of microorganisms, SILVERION 2400™ demonstrated dramatically improved kill rates. The testing was conducted using a formula strength of 30 ppm, and has shown a bacterial kill rate that is 20 times faster than the leading competitor.
At 30 –ppm, SILVERION 2400™ proved to be 99.9999% effective against the following organisms:
Proprionibacterium acnees ATCC 6921 15-seconds
Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15422 30-seconds

Based on the EPA toxicity categorization of antimicrobial products that ranges from Category I (high toxicity) down to Category IV, SILVERION 2400™, with its combination of the biocidal properties of ionic silver and an organic acid, is an EPA Category IV antimicrobial for which precautionary labeling statements are normally not required. This is much lower than the Category II warning statements for most leading brands of antimicrobial products.
The toxicity of SILVERION 2400™ has been assessed in extensive laboratory testing, including acute and chronic toxicity tests and dermal sensitization studies.
